Listen to this post:

2017 was a record-breaking year for the advertising industry.

For the first time in history, digital ad spending surpassed all other advertising categories, including television and print, which have dominated for decades.

The digital advertising industry reached $209 Billion last year and shows no signs of cooling off. It’s doubled in size since 2013, dwarfing print media campaigns by at least two thirds in annual spending, and achieving a whopping 21% growth in just the past twelve months.

The advertising industry is booming. Marketers around the world are rushing to get a piece of what analysts project will be 50% of a $600 Billion global industry by 2020.

Every entrepreneur in the world knows that online advertising is the way to go, and they want to experience its profit-boosting power.

Now, if you’re in digital advertising this sounds like great news. Your industry is on fire and there’s no shortage of money to be made.

But there is a dark secret that is destroying digital advertising like a deadly virus. It’s a secret that people don’t talk about because they feel there’s nothing they can do to stop it. In fact, most marketers are afraid to accuse the “big advertising giants” of acting as accomplices to this multi-billion dollar crime for fear of what the repercussions might be.

The Biggest Scam in History

The definition of ad fraud is: You get charged for an ad that has zero chance of making any return.

Ad fraud and ad-waste are gutting campaign budgets to the tune of $51 Million every single day.

Conservative estimates project that advertisers will lose $19 Billion dollars to ad fraud by the end of 2018.

To put this into perspective, consider this: Enron cost shareholders $63 Billion. The Lehman brothers made off with a cool $20 Billion after filing for bankruptcy. Bernie Madoff stole $20 Billion worth of funds from his own investors. These crimes sparked incredible, international outrage and yet $51 Million or more is being stolen day after day and no one is doing anything to stop it.

It’s mind-blowing how pervasive and significant ad fraud and ad-waste are. It affects virtually everyone who participates in advertising online from large agencies to small, independent business owners, publishers, and owners of digital ad properties, all the way down everyday internet users.

And it’s not just the Fortune 1000 or big brand advertisers that are victims of fraud. It’s small, independent businesses and startups that truly depend on digital ads to get their company off the ground and survive. It’s the mom down the street who quit her corporate job to stay at home with the kids and work virtually with clients all over the world. It’s the coffee shop down the street, the fashion brand run from someone’s living room, the teenager who saved up his babysitting money to launch an online store. And for these folks, it’s life or death.

If you’re an advertiser, for every $100 you spend on a campaign only $50 is going to purchase legitimate performance and the other $50 is being eaten up by spammers, scammers, bots, dark traffic, and bunk placements.

This may be okay for a big brand marketer with huge budgets at their disposal, but if you’re a new startup, you have very little chance of making a return on your ad budget.  That can often be the difference between life or death for your small business.

When half of every dollar spent is being robbed by bots instead of served up to high-intent human beings, campaigns performance flops– high impression rates, zero conversions. You’re left with ‘proof’ that there is no market for your business when in fact your campaign was hijacked. The ads were never served to a human audience in the first place.

Ad fraud is killing entrepreneurs, the oxygen of our global economy. It’s suppressing the ability of value creators to spread their gifts, to promote their products to the people who actually want and need them.

The Fraudster’s Accomplice

The worst part is, big advertising networks know and they’re not doing anything about it. In fact, ad fraud and ad-waste have become a nice little cash cow that continues to pad their coffers.

Networks take 30%-50% of every ad spend dollar processed, regardless of whether the performance of that ad was legitimate or fraudulent. They don’t really care if your bid was triggered by a bot or a real person, and within the PPC model of digital advertising, there’s no real reason why they have to.

The ad ‘performed,’ therefore the advertiser must pay. A click is a click is a click, it’s as simple as that.

Every so often an ad network does shut down a known scammer and seize the revenue generated from fraud. But when they do, the network returns only a fraction of those stolen funds to the advertiser (if any at all), and often ends up keeping the money for themselves.

And again, the scope of this fraud is just incredible… very likely the biggest scam in history.

Pissed off?

We are too.

My business partners and I have been robbed of millions. Fraud has personally caused me to have to lay off six employees because I had lost so much money I couldn’t keep them on.

A Better Way to Advertise Online

Industry analysts project that the digital advertising sector will grow to $300 Billion in the just the next two years. We are positioned for rapid exponential growth, but unless something is done to shut down spammers and scammers, the billions of dollars lost each year will increase as well.

It’s time to blow the whistle on ad networks who allow pandemic levels of fraud and waste to inflect the digital advertising sector.

That’s why we’ve created tribeOS.

The world’s first digital advertising marketplace designed to offer advertisers and publishers a platform where they can run secure, ad fraud-free campaigns using a truly transparent platform.

Our first line of defense against fraud is AdShield, which is a suite of cyber-security software that stops bots and human fraud. AdShield has been stopping ad fraud and protecting ad dollars for over 5 years. Our fraud blocking features shut down suspicious engagement and reports every instance of fraudulent attempts to jeopardize your ad spend.

Then we give advertisers accurate real-time tracking with the Gold Lantern 4-level tracking system that utilizes Cookies, IP, Email, and Device Fingerprinting to give you radical transparency for cross-domain/cross-platform metrics, attribution reporting, and lifetime customer value analytics.

This gives advertisers the data they need to make smart decisions with their campaigns.

And finally, by putting all activity on a blockchain ledger we have created the world’s fairest, most transparent and profitable solution for digital advertisers.

This is the place where advertisers and publishers can work and collaborate directly with one another, without black-box networks standing in the middle, siphoning precious capital.

Value Creators Unite.

Our mission is simple, we’re out to empower the world’s value creators with the tools they need to spread their gifts.

We want to be the catalyst in creating a world where entrepreneurs have access to a global, ad fraud-free marketplace that allows them to promote goods and services with the people who need them most.

And make no mistake, this is a social mission. We want to democratize the bidding process and connect advertisers directly with publishers, without some opaque middleman standing in the way.

Networks take a huge cut of every dollar processed on ad spend, at least 30%-50% of an advertiser’s campaign budget is going to the network.

But on tribeOS, 85% is given directly to the publisher, and because AdShield protection is built into our display service it means that 85% of campaign funds are being used to buy legitimate traffic from real human beings.

You never have to worry about your clicks, attempts by bots are shut down right away and reported to you in full transparency and in real-time.

Don’t believe us? You don’t have to, that’s the beauty of the blockchain ledger. It’s fully transparent and immutable.

If at any point you want to verify that we’re doing what we said we would, that your ads are being served where you wanted, in the quantity you specified, and to your target market, you can verify it in the blockchain ledger.  Either check it directly on our platform or independently on a third party site of your choosing.
